How Balintawak Eskrima Influenced/Impacted My Modern Arnis

$12.50$25.00

Modern Arnis was the brainchild of Remy Amador Presas.  A foundation style of stick-fighting in Modern Arnis was Balintawak Eskrima. Prof. Presas learned Balintawak Eskrima from 1951—1957 as a youth and became one of the club’s top fighters.  After Prof. Remy’s passing in 2001, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to the only man allowed to teach besides the founder, Anciong Bacon.  This man was Manong Ted Buot.  Buot taught in what is considered the traditional style, one-on-one in a private setting.  It was in this setting that I got to experience first hand the subtle efficiency of Balintawak Eskrima.

This is not an instructional video of Balintawak Eskrima.  This DVD is comprised of a number of video shorts I shot for YouTube in which I demonstrate many of the takeaways I received from his instruction that I now apply to my own  expression of Modern Arnis.  My lessons with Manong Ted were few but his impact was great!

My humble thanks to him for his instruction and to Jaye Spiro introducing me to him.  This changed my Filipino martial arts for the better.
