Modern Arnis Mano y Mano – Vol. 1 – The Empty Hand Applications of Modern Arnis
$18.95 – $30.00
Shortly after Prof. Remy died in August 2001, I began writing and publishing books to capture the spirit and technical data of Modern Arnis as best I could. Since we no longer had the Professor around, I felt it was important to do my part in continuing the art he so loved. Between 2004-2008, I wrote and published several books on empty hand applications and the empty hand forms/kata (anyos) of Modern Arnis. Print on demand was in its infancy at that time and size restrictions which prevented me from doing a completely thorough job on the subjects. I was fairly new at doing my own works as well.
That is not the case today. This volume is a very thorough examination of the empty hand applications of Modern Arnis. Those of us who personally trained with Prof. Remy knew he was equally deadly without a stick in his hand as he was with one. Whether it was striking, joint locking or throwing skills, he was top notch.
There is a saying in karate that I feel equally applies to Modern Arnis – “The first five stripes are what you get from the art. The last five stripes are what you give back.” As a practicing Lakan Sampu (10th Degree Black Belt), this volume is one of my ongoing projects to give back to the art which changed my life.
Modern Arnis Mano Y Mano Vol. 1 – The Empty Hand Applications of Modern Arnis is the most complete book ever to be written on the empty hand legacy of Remy Presas.
363 pages in all! I have used over a half century of martial arts training and teaching experience to bring to you information you can learn and use. This book contains:
*47 pages covering basics
*126 pages delineating 52 joint locks including using your legs to pin your opponent
*102 pages delineating 31 throws
*76 pages outlining the major empty hand drills and applications
This is a tour de force like none other on the empty hand skills within Modern Arnis.
